My Weekend Blizzard

The weather this weekend was crazy; I have not seen that much snow in my home town since I was a kid. It was Friday night I was driving back to Arcadia which is about an hour from La Crosse. That ride that night took us about two hours. I could not see the road because it was snowing so badly and the wind was blowing all of the snow onto the road. Finally I got home and I went straight to bed. The next morning I was woke up by the sound of a snow blower motor at six o’clock in the morning. I didn’t think of it much and went back to bed. I woke up later in the morning and I looked outside and it was still snowing and there was about a foot of snow on the ground already.
All of this snow ruined all of my plans for the day because everyone in town was snowed in. The plows were going all day and they still couldn’t keep up with the snow. So I decided to help my dad make rosettes in our garage. Rosettes are sugar cookies that my dad and I make every year around Christmas. We could make a lot of money on these cookies but we decide to give them away to our family and our friends. After we were done making the rosettes we put them in some boxes and I set off to go and try to deliver some. I made it to two of my friend’s house and I couldn’t get to my other buddies because there was so much snow so I called him and told him I would bring them Sunday before he headed back to school in Madison.
Sunday came I woke up and went to Subway to get something to eat and relaxed most of the morning then I decided to run to my buddies place and drop off his rosettes. I got to his house and gave him his rosettes and sat and visited with him for a while because I haven’t seen him since he went off to school. Finally I left and relaxed the rest of the day. Then later in the afternoon we packed up our things and headed back to La Crosse to do some homework. This year is going to be a white Christmas in Arcadia, which has not happened if quite a few years.

Rabbit and Squirrel Hunting

Two weeks ago in the middle of the week I decided that it would be fun to get a bunch of my friends together and go rabbit hunting in Arcadia. I went and talked to my friend Ray and brought it up and he wanted to do the same thing so we decided to invite a bunch of people to go on my land, Ray’s land, and my friend Chad’s land.
Saturday morning came; I woke up, ate some breakfast and waited for everyone to show up at my house. It was about ten thirty and everyone was there. Finally we decided to go to my land to start it off. We got there, loaded our guns and we were off. We walked over the hill and hit every brush pile and not a single rabbit came out. We kept walking and I happened to look up into a big oak tree and there was a red squirrel so I brought up my gun, shot, and watched the squirrel fall out of the tree. I walked over to it, picked him up, and through him in the back pack and kept hunting. We walked the rest of my land and didn’t see a single thing. We walked back to the truck and decided to go to my friend Chad’s land. We loaded up and took off for his land. Chad has land that is very good for hunting anything. We got to his land loaded our guns and we were off again. We walked for about an hour and a half and didn’t see a single thing. We walked back to the truck and Ray called his dad to see if it was alright to hunt on his land. His dad said it was fine, so we got in our vehicles and took off. We got to Ray’s and we were loading our guns. Suddenly a rabbit busted out and everyone that had bullets in their guns shot. No body hit the rabbit so we let him go. We walked for about two hours at Ray’s and in that short amount of time and a lot of walking we managed to get ten rabbits and two squirrels. With this it brought our total for the day to ten rabbits and three squirrels.
Anytime that we go rabbit and squirrel hunting it is tradition to take all of our kills to my house and clean them in my garage, and after they were all cleaned up I would fry up all of the meat and we all sit down and have a great meal with each other. So after we left Ray’s we all headed to my house and kept this tradition going.  This was a fun and eventful weekend and I had a great time with my friends and family.

Albert Einstein

In Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879 Albert Einstein was born. About six weeks after Albert was born his family moved to Munich. This is where Albert started his schooling, he entered the Luitpold Gymnasium. He did not stay in Munich to continue his education because his family later moved again. This move brought them Italy, but Albert took his education to Aarau, Switzerland he did not finish his education here. In 1896 he enrolled in the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich where he was going to become a physics and mathematics teacher. Finally in 1901 he acquired his diploma and he also gained Swiss citizenship. There was one bump in the road for Albert; he could not find a teaching position anywhere so he decided to take a position as a technical assistant in the Swiss Patient Office. While working there he went to school to pursue his doctor’s degree, in 1905 he accomplished this goal. (Albert Einstein-Biography para 1)
Later in the year of 1905 Albert Einstein created his first piece of work. This paper had to do with random motion of small suspended particles also known as Brownian motion which was discovered in 1828. Albert proved the existence of particles by generating a theory that all of the bombarding by surrounding molecules will make a tiny particle in a fluid dart around in an erratic movement. He formed his famous equation that you see in just about every math or science class room, this equation is E=mc2. With this equation Albert was able to prove that his theory was correct.  (Frank, Phillip, Einstein, Albert para 4)
Einstein’s second paper involved the photoelectric effect by considering the nature of electromagnetic radiation, usually thought of as waves. Einstein thought that light could only be transferred in packets; Einstein later was able to explain the observations of Lenard (1902), in which the energy of electrons ejected from a metallic surface depended on the wavelength of light falling on it but not on the intensity. Later on the results came back and it gave a good base for the quantum theory. (Frank, Phillip para 5)
In his third paper Albert introduced the theory of relativity, which is explaining how bodies moving with uniform velocity with respect to one another. The question he set out to solve was concerned with the speed at which light travels relative to an observer. Up until this time it was thought that light traveled at a constant speed all of the time. But Einstein thought that if a body is creating speed it is becoming shorter and heavier. This lead him to the equation of E=mc2, the E stands for the energy, the m stands for the mass of the object and the c is the speed of light. This equation was needed to create the atom bomb; because of this Albert is considered responsible for jump starting the Manhattan Project because he wrote to President Roosevelt saying the Germany was going to be the first country to create the first nuclear bomb. This worried President Roosevelt so he made sure that the Manhattan Project was put into effect as soon as possible. (Frank, Phillip para 6)

Albert Einstein was a very creative man and a very insightful thinker. He was never the greatest student in school but it shows that if you have the passion for something you can do anything. Albert stuck it out and created many different works that lead to many discoveries that are still used to this day. Until this day we will remember Albert Einstein as a great scientist and as a very human person. (Jeremy Stangroom) He is responsible for influencing people to take interest in science; because of these great works we are always making advances in technology.

College, Friends, and Family

This first semester of my college experience is going very well. The semester is almost over and I am buckling down so I can pass all of my classes so I don’t have to take them over. My most difficult class this semester is Human Resources, but I am doing alright in that class. I would like to get my grade up a little bit more before the semester ends. I have already signed up for my next semester classes and I have been told that my toughest class is going to be Accounting. I am hoping that it won’t be to bad considering that I took two accounting classes during my high school career.
Not only is school going good. I am also meeting a lot of new people and become great friends with them. I met three great guys that will always be there for me no matter what. I am really glad that I have these guys because if I ever have a problem I know that they will be there to support me. I think that these guys are going to be great friends for the rest of my life. We always hang out together and they always come back to my home town to go hunting and hang out a lot.
I think that the reason that I am meeting all of these great people is because I am living in the dorms. When you live in a place where there are many different people you try to become friends with them because in college you will meet people that will most likely be there the rest of your life.
One of these guys that I met is Cody. I day I met him we became great friends and we do a lot together. He has come back to my home town a lot with me, my parents treat him as if he is one of their kids. This opened my eyes to how great of a person Cody is and I know that he will always be there for me and I will do the same for him. He is like a brother to me and no matter what happens I will always be there to help him out.
College is a great experience that I am loving right know. I would strongly suggest coming to college because you get a great education and you meet many great people that will be there the rest of your life. Another thing to do while you are in college is to make sure you keep your family close because they will be there no matter what because they love you and care about you. Just like the people that I have met here. I feel that my friends and the other people I have met have become a family and we will always look out for each other.

Thanksgiving 2010

This year my Thanksgiving wasn’t anything special but it meant a lot to me. The day started off by getting up at six thirty in the morning, getting my hunting clothes on, and going to my grandfather’s house to head out to the woods, instead of hunting all day like we usually do we only did two drives and we were done. We only did two drives because everyone in our group had plans for Thanksgiving dinner at some point later that day. We finished up the two drives and unfortunately we did not see anything. We went back to my grandfathers unpacked all of our stuff and headed home. I got home, took off my hunting clothes and went upstairs. As soon as I walked into my room i sat on my bed and fell asleep. I took a nap for about an hour and a half then got read and headed to my grandma’s house for dinner.
This year’s dinner was a little bit different instead of the normal turkey that we always make; we decided to grill up some BBQ ribs. While my dad and my uncle were out grilling the rest of the family was inside visiting and watching football. Dinner was finally done and we all sat down and enjoyed the wonderful meal. After we were done eating we all went into the living room and watched more football and visited. Later my sister decided to pull out the flyers for all of the stores and everyone started making their Christmas list. After sitting and visiting for a while, it was time for everyone to head home. When I got home I cleaned out my car and headed to Lacrosse to pick up my buddy Cody to bring him back to Arcadia to go hunting the next morning. We got back to Arcadia, relaxed a little bit and headed to bed so we weren’t tired the next morning for hunting.
This Thanksgiving was a very relaxing and event full day. It was really nice to see my family and visit with them. I always enjoy being with my family because we always have a great time with each other.  Family is a very important to me because they will be there for me no matter what.

Hunting in Arcadia

When November comes around in Arcadia it seems like the town has more live. The reason for this is because it is almost opening morning of gun hunting. Family and friends are arriving from areas around Arcadia and enjoying the crisp November air with each other, having a grand old time. The night before opening morning seems to get a little out of hand. Everyone goes down to the local taverns to have a few drinks before they head home to get a good night’s rest for the big hunt. But for some people they end up staying out a little later then they had planned and end up having a tough time getting up in the morning. When the mooring comes everyone is up early getting ready to leave. The local eating places and gas stations are packed with people trying to get food and drinks for the big hunt. During the day when you are driving to go and do your next drive, all you see around town is trucks packed full with hunters all decked out in their blaze orange. Then later that night you drive downtown to see if you can see any of the big bucks that were shot. Usually you see a few good ones and a couple monsters, then you see the person that shot these nice bucks and they are usually a little tipsy at this point because they have been celebrating the big kill for a while now. Deer hunting in Arcadia is like another holiday, it brings friends and families together and everyone has a great time. Arcadia has some of the best hunting land in Wisconsin; it is nationally ranked for this. It is just a small town surrounded by ridges and valleys that have deer everywhere. If you ever get the chance, come to Arcadia during gun hunting and I bet that you will have an amazing time.

My Halloween Weekend

This Halloween I decided to go home and spend some time with my family. Friday came and I woke up, packed my things and I was heading home. I got home and unloaded my stuff and decided to do some homework. My parents came home from work and decided to grill out. My dad took out the steaks and threw them on the grill and we had a nice family meal. After super I called up my buddy Ray to see if he wanted to go shining for deer and of course Ray said “Yes”.  We met at our Kwik Trip and headed out. We shined for about two hours and decided to call it a night. I got home, got my hunting stuff ready, and went to bed.
Morning came and I headed to my tree stand. I sat for about four hours and saw only two deer, so I decided to head home. I got home and started doing some homework. After I was done with that I didn’t feel like doing anything so I laid around the house all day and watched college football.  Later that night Ray called and we went shining; we shined for about an hour and a half and headed home. I woke up the next morning to go hunting but I wasn’t feeling well so I stayed home and slept in. I woke up, packed my things and left to come back to Lacrosse. I got back unloaded my things, and relaxed for the rest of the day. I really enjoyed my weekend because I got to relax at home and spend some time with my family and Ray.
